Pierre Mann, A Passion For Africa
a film by Luis Miranda, 26'As a teenager, Pierre Mann discovered wildlife in movie theaters, and his passion for cinema was born. The images he brought back from the African continent made him dream and allowed him to escape, to forget the gloomy everyday life of the post-war years.
It was only much later that he set foot on the soil of this wild Africa. From then on, through the viewfinder of his camera, he became a witness to the treasures of this vast continent. Pierre doesn't just capture incredible footage, he shows us that we need all the other species, that Africa shouldn't just be seen through beautiful images of its wildlife and imposing landscapes. In particular, he describes his encounter with the Bushmen, the original hunter-gatherer people. His first contacts and images date back to the 70s. But it was twenty years later, and after four years spent by their side in the heart of the vast Kalahari desert, that this magnificent tribute to the little men of the desert was born. Their immense knowledge of the environment and their great wisdom are a wonderful lesson in life and humility.
